What do you know about acid reflux? Have you heard that acid reflux is a cause of heartburn, or have you heard that acid reflux can also damage your pearly white teeth and your gums? Fortunately, there are a few things you may be able to do to protect your pearly whites, even if you have acid reflux.

If you’re suffering from acid reflux, acids and undigested foods might come into your esophagus. Unfortunately, these acids might also be able to enter your mouth. This might be a serious issue because your pearly whites aren’t protected from these acids like your stomach is. You see, even though your enamel is one of the hardest substances in your body, it might still break down. If your enamel is gone, you won’t be able to restore it and you’ll be more vulnerable to cavities.

Fortunately, there are several things you could try if you’re interested in protecting your teeth and your gums. These things include limiting the number of sugary drinks you enjoy. You should also be careful with foods that contain high amounts of acid, including orange juice, and sugary foods. If you eat or drink sugary things, we recommend drinking water afterward. In general, you should also speak with your doctor about acid reflux.
